Extremely popular in the early 1900s basket weave is a classic way to add interest to floors. Grid pattern the most common way of laying out square or rectangular floor tiles is in a simple grid pattern where the edge of the grid lines up to the walls. This elegant pattern uses a combination of square and rectangular tiles to create a puzzle like repeating design. The chevron floor tile pattern forms a zigzag design by combining rectangular floor tiles into angled ends.
But do remember to check with your tile retailer about other tile pattern options. The basket weave pattern re creates the crosshatch stitching found on woven baskets by laying rectangular tiles into square blocks alternating between horizontal and vertical. Around the edges of these it has smaller square tiles to create a larger pattern that is then repeated across the floor. Often retailers will have a folder of tile patterns that match a particular brand of tile.
