If you have a humidifier running it will help prevent static from accumulating.
However it has been discovered that nylon carpets hold much more static energy than polyester carpets or wool carpets. Install a humidifier to help manage indoor humidity. This will greatly decrease the amount of static electricity you experience after walking on the carpet. That is why sometimes the best solution is just using a humidifier and opening a window for better air circulation.
To make a static reducing spray at home you can mix 1 capful of fabric softener in a spray bottle of water shake the mixture and lightly spray over the carpet. Lightly spray your carpet with an anti static spray and wait for it to completely dry before walking on it. If you have no windows or the outside air isn t cutting it give your environment a touch of the tropics with a humidifier. Of course not dragging your feet will help reduce some of the static.
There are homemade remedies you can use that will eliminate the static charge and not have the sticky problem.
