Refinished Hardwood Floors Are Rough
I just completed the long endeavor of refinishing original hardwood floors that were under the carpet upstairs.
Refinished hardwood floors are rough. Nylon stocking feet would be destroyed on this floor finish. If the towel discolors wait longer. All wood floors are protected by a clear coating that eventually becomes scratched scuffed and dull. When you think your floor may be dry enough to put down your rug put a cotton dish towel over the test panel and walk over it.
Hardwood floor refinishing can help you get rid of those unsightly scratches and marks. Rub your finger along the surface of the floor. Be sure to only stir the sealer. Refinishing hardwood floors is the right solution.
Brush up on the basics of 8 popular options before choosing yours. The pinholes bumps are throughout all 3 of the rooms that were refinished not really apparent in looking at it until you get down on the floor. However the bumps can be felt in bare or stocking feet and some places are rough enough to snag a microfiber cloth. That will entrap air into the product that will cause the floor to be rough once again.
Also using a roller will cause bubbles to form on the sealer as well. Hardwood floor finishes have varying levels of ease durability even glossiness. Note that while oils on the floor can damage rugs a rug can also damage a refinished floor. That may have been the issue all along.
Facial tissue cotton towel optional room dehumidifier optional when you refinish the floor refinish a small test panel as well. If it feels rough it s probably finished with a penetrating oil which may or may not be coated with wax. It s much more likely to be a film finish such as shellac or polyurethane. I applied the 2nd coat of satin poly minwax super fast drying polyurethane for floors and the floor feels mostly smooth except for some rough spots i can see dust bubbles but those areas feel smooth which i can live with.
Good luck and let us know how you make out. Begin by using a drum sander or belt sander with the grain along the length of the boards.
